Thanks for mentioning my comment in this episode.
I thought it odd that you all seemed to think that Number 6 was
deliberatel not saying “6” but I have always thought, and still think
from this watching, that he can’t say “6” because of the conditioning at
the start where they keep repeating “5” at him so that they don’t want
him to say “6” for some reason – they’ve put the block there – not him.

Another great episode. Thanks so much. I am already feeling wistful about the series being over! The hiatus between Living in Harmony and Girl Who Was Death eps. gave me the chance to catch up fully on the whole podcast, and now I am back to listening in real time.
I enjoyed Luke’s questioning about the ep. I have som sympathy. I must admit that it is one that I watched so much back in the day that it has very little re-watch value for me now. It’s one that I know, intellectually, is great, but I’m just not going to watch very often. One of the things I love about the Prisoner is the look of the thing, and this episode does not have that at all. It’s the most boring episode of all visually.
On the other hand, McKern is brilliant, as you say.
You mentioned a good deal the dramatic elements here, and I think Peter talked about an Edinburgh festival performance of this? I saw a brilliant dramatic production of it back in the day (late 1980s?) at a Six of One Convention in Portmeirion, and it may have been the same team. But I do remember thinking how well it worked as theatre.
