Thoroughly enjoyed this episode, especially the discussion of the worshipping Rover segment. More than the previous three eps., I really wished I’d watched Free For All again prior to listening, and the happy plan to have a fresh watching of the entire series in tandem with your podcasts birthed itself! I don’t need much encouragement to watch The Prisoner again. So that project is now going into operation!
In some respects, I adore Free For All since it looks so gorgeous with all the Portmeirion shooting, as with Arrival and Checkmate, and Dance of the Dead. And it’s full of astonishingly good stuff, like the interview in the car, as you all mentioned. But I have to agree with Luke that I have never quite been able to follow Number 6’s status during it, brainwashed / not brainwashed, etc. The story-telling is almost brilliant but not quite — defo needed a good script editor that could tell McGoohan how to make it that touch better.
